Ferrari's much-anticipated 2025 season hasn't lived up to expectations. Instead of fighting for the championship, the team has faced a tough and rocky start to the year.
The SF-25 has faced unforeseen issues, leading to poor performance. As a result, Ferrari has managed just one podium finish in the first six races of the 2025 season.
After a hard-fought battle last season, where Ferrari narrowly contended with McLaren, the team now finds itself trailing by three positions and a daunting 152 points behind the defending champions.
Despite the challenges, team principal Vasseur remains confident in Ferrari's ability to recover, though he admits the SF-25's design has fundamental flaws that need addressing.
“95% of the team members have been with us through the 2023, ’24, and ’25 projects,” Vasseur stated.
He went on to emphasize that encountering issues with a project does not imply the team’s structure is flawed. “I have full faith in our team,” he said.
We acknowledge there’s room for improvement, but constant progress is a key challenge in motorsport.
Even if you're leading, the need for constant development remains, as failure to improve exposes you to rivals' attacks.”
Reflecting on the current season, Vasseur admitted that mistakes were made in the development of the SF-25. “We have to do better,” he confessed.
